This is a DA20 hydraulic actuator that's going to activate your trailer's hydraulic drum brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. This does come unassembled and unprimed, so that you can very quickly and easily weld this onto your trailer frame, and it's going to help prevent any damage to the internal components while you're welding it in place. This will weld onto a straight three inch wide trailer tongue. This is a heavy-duty steel construction, so it is going to give us a gross towing weight capacity of 20,000 pounds and a maximum tongue weight of 2,000 pounds. more

This is a DA10 hydraulic actuator that's going to activate your trailers hydraulic drum brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. So if you're not familiar with the way an actuator like this works, you will be hooked up to the hitch ball on your vehicle. And then as you're pulling your trailer along, if you slow down or stop, your trailers momentum is going to continue forward, it's going to compress this which has been going to pump the hydraulic fluid to your brakes and cause them to apply, so that your trailers rights will apply for you. This will bolt right on to your straight three-inch wide trailer tongue that will require half inch by four and a half inch grade five bolts for mounting this in place. more

Basically, the way this works as your vehicle comes to a stop, the momentum of the trailer is going to keep pushing it forward, which will then cause the actuator to compress. We're going to take a look at this Titan hydraulic drum brake actuator with the drop for two and five 16 diameter hitch balls, and has a 20,000 pound gross towing weight capacity. Now this hydraulic actuator will activate your trailer brakes when your tow vehicle slows or stops. Basically what happens is when you apply the brakes in your tow vehicle, the deceleration occurs and the momentum will push your trailer toward the rear of your vehicle. So with the surge brake system, the actuators triggered as your trailer moves forward. more

So this helps to bring your trailer to a safe, controlled stop since it does work with the forces of acceleration and deceleration to send back that hydraulic fluid. Basically, what happens is as your towing vehicle comes to a slow, your trailer is going to push forward. That's going to trigger the actuator and that's going to push the hydraulic fluid back towards your brakes. So as you come to a stop, it's going to apply that same amount of force to those brakes. more
